Happy Birthday Paul Weller/Feliz Cumpleaños Paul Weller!

 

Paul Weller es sin duda uno de los más grandes líderes e iconos musicales de la historia. Para la cultura Mod, no sólo ello, sino también el re-lanzador, el Face, el gestor y responsable de que la cultura Mod no se perdiera en el tiempo sino que la proveyó de frescura, novedad y le añadió el toque de su generación.

Lider de The Jam, con el movimiento Revival y muy de estilo Punk 77, sembraron en una nueva generación, el ambiente propicio para otra era de gloria.

Muy aparte de sus riffs típicos en toda su discografía; Paul siempre ha tenido como estilos preferidos el Soul y el R&B.

Hoy con 53 años (perdón por la tardanza, ya que su onomástico fue ayer), le queremos hacer un pequeño espacio para dedicarselo.

Feliz Cumpleaños Paul y Gracias por enseñarnos a renovar esta cultura con cada generación que viene!

Generation X

Hoy en ModPerú, un poco de aquella banda de Punk liderada por un ex-mod, William Broad; mil veces más conocido como Billy Idol.

Generation X surgió a partir de otra banda inicial llamada Chelsea, que en aquel entonces tenía como vocalista a Gene October. Al desechar a October, también desechan el nombre de Chelsea y adoptan éste, a partir del título de una obra de Jane Deverson editada en 1960.

Tocaron en vivo por primera vez en 1976, en The Roxy, siendo la primera banda en haber tocado en dicho lugar.

Entre muchos sencillos, tanto conocidos como perdidos, os dejo los enlaces de algunos que encontré por ahí.

Dentro de algunos días subiré el compilado de todos sus éxitos.

The Skatalites en Lima, Perú

Hoy siendo 15 de marzo de 2011, ya es todo un hecho que los Skatalites darán una presentación en Lima.
Los Skatalites son considerados creadores del Ska y a su vez principal punto de partida para el surgimiento de otros estilos como el rocksteady y el reaggae.
Con 46 años de trayectoria, llegan a Lima a ofrecernos lo mejor de su repertorio.
