Generation X

Hoy en ModPerú, un poco de aquella banda de Punk liderada por un ex-mod, William Broad; mil veces más conocido como Billy Idol.

Generation X surgió a partir de otra banda inicial llamada Chelsea, que en aquel entonces tenía como vocalista a Gene October. Al desechar a October, también desechan el nombre de Chelsea y adoptan éste, a partir del título de una obra de Jane Deverson editada en 1960.

Tocaron en vivo por primera vez en 1976, en The Roxy, siendo la primera banda en haber tocado en dicho lugar.

Entre muchos sencillos, tanto conocidos como perdidos, os dejo los enlaces de algunos que encontré por ahí.

Dentro de algunos días subiré el compilado de todos sus éxitos.

The Skatalites en Lima, Perú

Hoy siendo 15 de marzo de 2011, ya es todo un hecho que los Skatalites darán una presentación en Lima.
Los Skatalites son considerados creadores del Ska y a su vez principal punto de partida para el surgimiento de otros estilos como el rocksteady y el reaggae.
Con 46 años de trayectoria, llegan a Lima a ofrecernos lo mejor de su repertorio.

Billy Boy Arnold & The Yardbirds

Nacido en Illinois, Chicago, USA en 1935, Billy Boy Arnold, fue sin duda uno de los más grandes héroes de Blues.
Se inició en la harmónica en lecciones informales, de su cercano vecino John Lee "Sonny Boy" Williamson en el año 1948.
A inicios de los 50's colaboró tocando la harmónica para el tema "I'm a Man" de Bo Diddley.
Sin dejar de lado el gran talento y exquisito repertorio de Billy Boy Arnold, hoy nos centramos en ofrecer 2 de sus temas más célebres y sus versiones hechas por The Yardbirds.

Yvonne Baker

Yvonne Baker perteneció a The Sensations, agrupación de Soul y R&B formada en 1954. Para 1956 sólo contaban con unas cuantas baladas menores y no muy populares. 

Es sin duda que recién con el tema "Please Mr. Disck Jockey" que se hacen realmente conocidos, ya que dicha canción ocupa el número 13 del chart global del US R&B.

Posiblemente Yvonne Baker con los Sensations, no tuvo la mayor relevancia, pero fue en las noches del Wigan Casino Club cuando sus temas se hicieron inmortales.

Hoy en ModPerú, os dejo 3 temas de la legendaria Yvonne Baker, el más famoso sin duda es "You didn't say a word", el cual siempre fue un tema favorito y popular en la cultura Mod, tanto como en aquellos Soul Dancers del Wigan y de todos los tiempos. Que los disfruten!
